We are looking for a Sr. Project Manager who is interested in making a valuable impact on a growing, reputable company in the Electrical industry. 

SUMMARY: The Sr. Project Manager is the highest level project manager responsible for overall direction of the largest revenue projects of the company. The Sr. PM establishes project objectives and monitors construction and financial activities through on-site PM's and is the primary company representative responsible for the overall completion and financial outcome of a construction project.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 Oversee the completion of construction in accordance with the Contract Documents and prevailing building codes. Ensure compliance with all contract documents.
 Personally ensure all project-associated Baker Electric employees follow and understand Baker Electric's interpretation of the project's specifications and contract documents. Determine with Foremen and Area Superintendents any conflicts with drawings, specifications, General/Special Conditions and coordinate possible solutions. If problems are encountered and the Area Superintendent has exhausted efforts with the responsible party, become Baker Electric's next level of management effort to resolve the problem with the owner's Project Manager or Inspector. If unsatisfactory results are attained, seek assistance through the Vice President of Construction Operations.
 Complete financial responsibility for the project ensuring labor, material, equipment and subcontract budgets are at a minimum achieved and as a general rule; improved upon.
 Responsible to produce a complete and accurate lighting package (fixtures, lighting control, etc.) bill of material based upon a complete recount. Compare this recount to estimated value and resolve discrepancies. Completely manage the submittal and delivery process ensuring project milestones are achieved and product is on the jobsite at the most advantages time for installation.
 Responsible to produce a complete and accurate bill of material for all major equipment purchases based upon your own review. Compare this review to the estimated counts/descriptions and resolve discrepancies.  Responsible to completely and accurately "scope" all subcontracted items of the project to ensure compliance and completeness with the contract documents (low voltage systems, excavation, testing services etc.), negotiate the terms and conditions of the subcontract and create and issue complete subcontracts to the selected subcontractors. Completely manage the submittal process and delivery process ensuring project milestones are met and subcontractor is on the jobsite at the most advantages time as indicted by the project Foreman. Manage the monthly billing process of the subcontractors and vendors.
 Prepare accurate and supportable change request estimates as required by the Owner and negotiate the best possible pricing for Baker Electric. Ensure prompt submission of these requests and be completely familiar with the General Conditions concerning Contract Modification procedures.
 Maintain and ensure accuracy of all logs and project associated tracking tools. Ensure Project Management documentation is accurate within the Company Accounting system.
 Become the "Company Expert" of all areas of the Project's General and Special Conditions. If the General or Special Conditions are being "loosely" followed, prepare a confirming letter that outlines the modified procedures and ensure this letter is reviewed by the Owner's Representative. Ensure that all timelines required by the General and Special Conditions are followed.
 Discuss manpower requirements at least weekly with the Superintendents. Monitor crew rates and crew sizes as they relate to budgets. If there are disparities between project needs and budgets, work closely with the Superintendent to reach a complete agreement. If a complete agreement is not achieved, bring the problem to the attention of the Vice President of Construction Operations for review.
 Ensure Labor Variance Report on each project has a weekly % complete update and that manpower projections do not exceed budgeted hours. When projections exceed budgets, ensure Senior Management is aware of the problem and briefed on recommended solutions developed mutually between the Project Manager and Project Superintendent.
 Monitor job progress, assist in cost to complete estimates, and man-hour to complete estimates as needed.
 Ensure overtime is compensable to Baker Electric. Superintendents may approve routine overtime. Significant overtime must be approved by the Project Manager. Obtain approval of continuous overtime shifts from the V.P. of Construction Operations.
 Promote and maintain a cooperative relationship with all clients and company personnel.
 Enforce company policy and procedures in regards to professional standards, safety, and ethics.
 Monitor field housekeeping activities for compliance with job safety requirements and standards. Immediately report discrepancies to the Area Superintendent.
 Ensure all project related employees are strategically planning all aspects of the project per Baker Electric's planning process.
 Anticipate and communicate potential long lead item delays to prevent possible disruptions in the production schedule.
 Monitor that material is being ordered and arriving on the job site on schedule, and that vendor supplied material is cost competitive.
 Resolve material problems (ordering, arrival, backorders, damages, shortage, etc.) with the assistance of the Purchasing Manager or appropriate vendor. Ensure these problems do not impact project schedules.
 Manage preconstruction activities required to commence on-site construction work once a contract has been executed. This includes but is not limited to, permit submittals, equipment procurement and utility/rebate paperwork.
 Participate in final contract negotiations and facilitate Project Developers with closing deals, when required.

EDUCATION, SKILL, EXPERIENCE: Successful graduation of I.B.E.W. 569 Journeyman, Electrical B.S.E.E. Engineering Degree, or related Field Construction Management Degree preferred. Minimum five years of experience in Electrical Construction Management/Estimating/Project Management. A minimum of 5 years of general knowledge of contract law and project accounting is required. Knowledge of MS applications and construction software is required at an intermediate/advanced level. Valid CA Driver's License required.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, climb, talk, hear, see and use complex repetitive motions. May frequently lift and or move at least 75 pounds of materials, etc. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus.
